I totally missed last month because I had lost track of time and honestly because I wasn’t in a great place emotionally. I was struggling to think of things I was looking forward to, or treasuring. I did hardly any reading and some days, I wasn’t sure how I would survive much more of this.

But I got through it, and the warm weather of May seems to be helping my mood.

Something Loved

While the bloom in my yard has been uneven, I’ve been loving bringing in cut flowers whenever I can. Specifically into my bedroom. This week it’s rhododendron. Not something I would have thought of using as a cut flower, but I trimmed a branch with a large bunch of buds and they’ve been opening and blooming a couple at a time for the last week or so on my dresser.

I’m hoping some of my seeds and summer bulbs will produce some lovely flowers to enjoy as the summer continues.

Something Read

After finishing Anne of Ingleside, I decided I needed to switch to something else. I hadn’t read much recent fiction lately. But I had Murder on Belle Island by Julie Klassen waiting for me on my Kindle. While I do enjoy Klassen’s writing, she is not my favorite regency author (that honor is reserved for the lovely Lawana Blackwell who hasn’t had a new book in years, which is tragic). But Klassen’s work does help to fill the void and this title seems to be a bit of a departure from her usual, so I look forward to digging deeper into it.

Something Treasured

Now that the weather is finally warming up and the days are a little longer, we’ve begun to take family walks a couple of evenings a week. The kids usually bring their scooters and hubby and I can actually talk or even hold hands.

It’s not really about the exercise, though that doesn’t hurt, and the getting outside has done wonderful things for my moods.

Something Ahead

The longer this quarantine continues, the harder this question is to answer. For now, I’m looking forward to starting to socialize a little bit more, in small groups. Or at least maybe to see family again, provided we all remain outside.

The hope that there may still be a summer getaway at our friends’ cabin in the mountains, and that soon life will return to something resembling normal.
